On Monday, July 29, 2024, the CharlieCard Store will be renamed to Charlie Service Center and permanently relocated to 296 Washington St. The new location is between Milk St and Water St, near the State Street T Station and Downtown Crossing.
You can visit the CharlieCard Store to:
- Buy passes for any mode
- Replace a damaged or expired CharlieCard
- Request a Senior CharlieCard, Transportation Access Pass (TAP), or Blind Access Pass
- Process a name change on a Senior CharlieCard, Transportation Access Pass (TAP), or Blind Access Pass with a valid ID
- Add credit to a RIDE account
CharlieCard Store Location
In September 2023, the CharlieCard Store was temporarily relocated to the State Transportation Building at 10 Park Plaza in Conference Room 6 on the 2nd floor.
You can access the temporary location via the Green and Orange Lines. The building features escalators, elevators and accessible entrances on Charles Street, Stuart Street, and Boylston Place.
Most CharlieCard Store services are available at this temporary location, however, please note:
- Cash payments will be accepted starting October 2, 2023.
- Exchanges are limited to five CharlieCards or CharlieTickets per day. We encourage customers to use our consolidation request form for exchanges of more than five cards or tickets.
- Please anticipate processing delays.

Riders can visit the CharlieCard Store to:
- Request a reduced fare CharlieCard
- Replace a lost, expired, or damaged card
- Make deposits to RIDE accounts
If our walk-in times don't work for you, you can schedule a time on a Monday to visit the store.
Here's how:
1. Select a service. You can:
- Apply for a new Senior, TAP, or Blind Access CharlieCard or renew an existing one
- Apply for an automatically eligible TAP CharlieCard
2. Select a date and time. Appointments are available on Mondays between 8:30 AM – 12:15 PM.
3. Enter your contact information. Please include any special requests you may have.

People 65 and older are eligible for reduced MBTA fares with a Senior CharlieCard.

People with disabilities and Medicare cardholders are eligible for reduced MBTA fares with a Transportation Access Pass (TAP) CharlieCard.

Blind Access CharlieCard

People who are legally blind, as well as an accompanying guide, ride all MBTA services for free with a Blind Access CharlieCard.

Note: The CharlieCard Store will close at 2 PM on New Year's Eve (Observed) and Christmas Eve (Observed).
