Orange and Green Lines’ Service Impacted as Government Center Garage Demolition Begins

During two weekends in February and March, the Government Center Garage will be demolished for mixed-use development. To keep riders and drivers safe during demolition, Orange Line and Green Line trains will not travel in the tunnels running underneath the garage.

During demolition weekends, shuttles will provide alternate service and bus service will not be impacted. Additional dates may be added, please check back here for details.

Please note:

• Make transfers between the Green and Orange line shuttles at Haymarket.
• In addition to shuttle service, riders may take an accessible van to any station on the shuttle route or to the closest station with subway service. To access the van, board at one of these locations:
  • Haverhill Street near North Station
  • Dartmouth Street near Back Bay
  • Washington Street near Tufts Medical Center

Orange Line Service Impacts

Weekend of February 19 – 20

Sullivan Square – State

 

During this weekend:

• Shuttles run all day between Sullivan Square and State
• Trains run single-track service at reduced speeds between Wellington and Sullivan Square, and State and Chinatown (or Tufts Medical Center, depending on the weekend)
• All Orange Line trains use northbound platforms at State, Downtown Crossing, and Chinatown 

Weekend of March 12 – 13

Sullivan Square – Back Bay

During this weekend:

• Shuttles run all day between Sullivan Square and Back Bay
• Trains run single-track service at reduced speeds between Wellington and Sullivan Square
• All Orange Line trains use northbound platforms at State, Downtown Crossing, and Chinatown 

Green Line Service Impacts

Government Center – Lechmere

Weekends of February 19 – 20 and March 12 – 13

During these weekends: 

• Shuttles run all day between Government Center and Lechmere 
• C and E Branch train service ends at Government Center 
• B and D Branch train service ends at Park Street 
• To connect to the shuttles at Government Center on the above dates, B and D Branch riders can take a C or E Branch train between Park Street and Government Center
