Bacon Street Bridge Overnight Demolition Begins April 11

Updated on April 5, 2021

Bacon Street bridge in Wellesley is being completely replaced.

We're replacing the bridge that carries the Framingham/Worcester Line over Bacon Street in Wellesley. On April 11, crews will begin overnight demolition work. A detour route will be in place during overnight closures.

This project will bring the bridge to a State of Good Repair, improving safety, resiliency, and reliability of the Worcester Line.

What to Expect During this Work

Work will begin at 8 PM on Sunday, April 11 and continue Monday through Friday from 8 PM to 5 AM until April 23.

There will be an additional full weekend of demolition work from 8 PM on Friday, April 23 to 5 AM on Monday, April 26.

Neighborhood Impacts

To allow for this work, Bacon Street near Route 135/East Central Street will be closed to travel during work hours and the weekend of April 24. We will install signage indicating the detour route before construction begins. We encourage drivers to avoid the area or seek alternate routes to avoid delays.
