In February 2021, the MBTA announced the temporary suspension of Commuter Rail service to South Attleboro station due to the poor structural condition of the pedestrian bridge. The bridge was demolished in October 2023.

On May 20, 2024, one of the two station platforms reopened with limited service during peak times.
