Summer 2024 Service Changes

This summer, we're making changes to bus and subway service. Commuter Rail, ferry, and The RIDE will remain the same.

Service Changes by Mode

subway Subway Service Changes

Effective June 16, 2024

The following changes to the Red and Green lines will remain in effect for the summer season. There will be no service changes to the Blue, Orange, and Mattapan lines.

Route terminates on Green St @ Magazine at Central Sq. The route does not serve Mass Ave due to a temporary diversion. 

Updated with new trip times for improved reliability.

Route111ChangeIncreased frequency to every four minutes from early morning through morning peak travel to accommodate increased ridership.
Route117ChangeBeginning July 5, weekday Haymarket trips that use Sumner Tunnel before 5:15 AM detour via Ted Williams Tunnel during the Sumner closure.
Route424ChangeWeekday outbound trip arrival times shift slightly for improved reliability.
Route429ChangeOn June 17-18 and June 20- 21, trips depart Northgate at 2:35 PM, 3:35 PM, 4:35 PM, 5:35 PM, 6:35 PM, 7:35 PM, 8:40 PM, 9:35 PM and 10:30 PM.
Route450ChangeStarting July 5, route terminates at Wood Island Station instead of Haymarket during Sumner Tunnel closure for a local bus fare.
Route714Change

Starting July 16, service extends to 10 PM every day. More midday service added.

Route716ChangeStarting July 16, service extends to 7:15 PM on weekdays and 6:15 PM on Saturdays. Trip times updated to improve reliability.
RouteSL1ChangeWeekday service increases during Sumner Tunnel closure.
RouteSL3ChangeWeekday service increases during Sumner Tunnel closure.

Note: these routes will have new PDF and printed schedules effective June 16, 2024. For all other routes without summer service changes, spring schedules remain valid.
