Lynn Interim Station Opens December 18

Starting December 18, 2023, Newburyport/Rockport trains will stop at the new, accessible Lynn interim station located on Ellis St and Friend St. The free shuttle bus from Lynn station to Swampscott station will no longer be in service.

As part of our $9.6 billion, 5-year capital investment plan, we're renovating stations, modernizing fare collection systems, upgrading services for our buses, subways, and ferries, and improving the accessibility of the entire system.
Interim Station Platform Locations
- Riders traveling inbound toward Boston should board the train on Ellis St.
- Riders traveling outbound toward Salem should board the train on Friend St.
Walking Directions from Lynn Busway and Parking Garage
The interim station is a seven- to 10-minute walk from the Lynn busway and parking garage, located at 445 Union St.

- Right on Exchange St
- Left on Mt. Vernon St
- Right on Silsbee St
- Cross at the crosswalk
- Follow Silsbee St to the left

To Friend St Outbound Platform

- Left on Union St
- Right on Exchange St
- Left on Mt. Vernon St
- Right on Silsbee St
- Cross at the crosswalk
- Go straight onto Friend St
Exiting the Train in Lynn
Please ride in the first two train cars closest to the front of the train. If you are not seated in the first two train cars when the train arrives in Lynn, and cannot travel through the train to reach them, let a crew member know. The train will be moved to align the platform with the exit closest to you.
