Rail Work Between Riverside and Reservoir Stations
Posted on June 2, 2016
Over the next 6-8 weeks, the MBTA will be performing important rail grinding work along the D-Line between Riverside and Reservoir Stations beginning Tuesday, May 31st , between the hours of 2AM - 5AM, Monday through Friday. The work entails mechanical grinding of one track of rail (eastbound or westbound) while a crew of track workers will be using rail equipment that will renew the steel rails of the tracks by grinding out imperfections worn into the rails by repeated train operation.
The MBTA’s goal is to perform the work in a more compressed schedule while minimizing impacts to our customers, and we anticipate accomplishing a half of mile of rail work every two evenings.
We appreciate the public’s patience and understanding while we perform this necessary work. For questions, please contact MBTA Customer Service at 617.222.3200.
