New Train Announcement Boards Activated at North Station

Posted on November 14, 2007

Boston Bruins Defenseman, Environmental Activist and CharlieCard User Andrew Ference, a strong advocate for public transit, joined MBTA General Manager Daniel Grabauskas at North Station where the T  activated two newly installed, over-sized, state-of-the-art Train Information Boards.

The display Boards are fully automated, brightly lit in multiple colors for easy reading, and hung from the ceilings so that they can be viewed from all angles of the large concourse at North Station.  And despite the advanced technology, the new signs will still generate the attention-getting 'clicking sounds' associated with old-style railroad depot boards.

The electronic display boards provide Commuter Rail customers with important information about the departures and arrivals of trains, and at which platforms.

General Manager Grabauskas also presented Ference with a special commendation for his support of public transit and other environmental causes.

In January, a large display board will be installed at South Station.
