Uphams Corner Station Overhaul Complete

In Dorchester today, state and local officials joined MBTA General Manager Daniel A Grabauskas to applaud the completion of renovations to Uphams Corner Commuter Rail Station. Part of the Fairmount Line Project, Uphams Corner station underwent $7M in station modernization to provide a well – lit, fully accessible modern station. A complete re-design, improvements to the station include: new high-level train platforms for easy boarding, canopies, access ramps, electronic message boards, and pedestrian-friendly walkways.
The Fairmount Commuter Rail Line, which runs from South Station through Dorchester and Hyde Park terminating in the Readville section of Boston, consists of 9.2 miles of track, four stations and forty-one bridges. The Fairmount Line is the only Commuter Rail Line that exclusively serves the City of Boston and the MBTA’s urban core.
Approximately $37M has been dedicated to the renovation and rehabilitation of stations, bridges, tracks, and signal systems up and down the line. General Manager Grabauskas stressed the importance of investing in the community and the positive results that are realized with accessible, convenient public transportation.
“We are dedicated to investing in transportation projects that work to maintain our existing infrastructure and provide our customers with viable transportation alternatives.”
Upon the completion of a brief speaking program, local officials joined General Manager Grabauskas in a ribbon cutting officially announcing the newly renovated station.
