Public Meeting for Weekend PTC Work on Lowell Line
Meeting Info
Attendees: Public
Event Description
The MBTA has announced that a public meeting has been scheduled on Wednesday, July 26, at Lowell City Hall regarding Positive Train Control (PTC) installation taking place on the Lowell Commuter Rail Line beginning in the late summer and the alternative travel options being provided.
PTC is a federally mandated safety control system that prevents train-on-train collisions and human error. From August 5 through October 1, there will be no weekend Lowell Line train service while PTC is installed. Replacement shuttle bus service will be provided to all stations along the Lowell Line during this time.
For more information regarding PTC implementation on the MBTA Commuter Rail system, please visit mbta.com/ptc.
