Retirement Plan(s)

Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution Plans available.

  • Non-affiliated Employees: You are eligible to join either the MBTA Retirement Fund or the Executive Deferred Compensation 401(a) Savings Plan. Participation in one plan or the other is mandatory for all employees. Your selection must be made within 90 working days of your date of hire.
  • Affiliated Employees: You are eligible to join the MBTA Retirement Fund. Your election must be made within 90 working days of your date of hire.

    • Non-affiliated Employees: The MBTA offers 11 paid holidays.
    • Affiliated Employees: Holidays are determined by your Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

Flexible Spending Accounts

The GIC's Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) help you save money on out-of-pocket health care costs and/or dependent care expenses. By participating in an FSA, you will reduce your gross income and save on federal and state taxes.

Commuter Choice Assistance Program

The Commuter Choice Assistance Program helps you save money on work-related transportation and parking expenses. By participating in the plan, you will reduce your gross income and save on federal and state taxes.

Training and Development Courses

You can enroll in a variety of computer-related courses through our learning management system. 

Tuition Reimbursement

Eligible employees can take advantage of tuition reimbursement after 6 months of service, subject to availability and continuation of program funding.
