Brian Shortsleeve

Brian Shortsleeve served as the MBTA's first-ever Chief Administrator from 2015 until 2017. He joined the MBTA at the time of the creation of the Fiscal and Management Control Board to focus on developing and implementing a strategy to put the T on a path to fiscal sustainability.

Brian is a Massachusetts native and Harvard Business School graduate who has more than 20 years of leadership experience in the public and private sectors helping complex organizations through periods of both rapid growth and turnaround. He is also a former Marine officer who served in Bosnia-Herzegovina and the Persian Gulf. He spent the early part of his career at Bain & Company and most recently was a Managing Director at General Catalyst Partners. Brian brings extensive experience developing and executing strategies to improve performance and drive organizational change and was appointed to the FMCB by Governor Baker in 2017.
