Senior PM DeNooyer Receives WTS-Boston 2017 Innovative Transportation Solutions Award

Posted on June 14, 2017

BOSTON - The MBTA is pleased to congratulate Senior Project Manager Ellen DeNooyer AIA, LEED AP in receiving the 2017 Innovative Transportation Solutions Award from the Women in Transportation Seminar (WTS) Boston Chapter, an association for the professional advancement of women in transportation.

The WTS Innovative Transportation Solutions Award is given to an individual for leading a project that makes a difference in the lives of a community and its users. DeNooyer, a licensed architect with over twenty-five years of experience in managing complex transportation, institutional, and commercial projects, was nominated for the award as a result of her role as Senior Project Manager for the newly opened MBTA Boston Landing at Allston/Brighton Commuter Rail Station.

DeNooyer successfully engaged with Allston-Brighton community stakeholders, private partners, public agencies, and accessibility advocates to improve the neighborhood access to the Station. With Boston Landing Station as one of the first Public Private Partnerships (P3) projects in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the Station's development and construction were achieved through a combination of private funding sources and MBTA and MassDOT support. The Station serves the New Balance headquarters and surrounding Boston Landing mixed-use development as well as the greater Allston-Brighton neighborhood. DeNooyer worked through challenging multi-party value engineering processes to address rising costs and support an aggressive project schedule. As a result of DeNooyer's stakeholder communications and involvement in the Project, a fully accessible Boston Landing Station opened on schedule in May 2017, restoring Commuter Rail service on the Framingham/Worcester Line to the Allston-Brighton community for the first time in nearly fifty years.

The MBTA congratulates DeNooyer on receiving the award and thanks her for her hard work and dedication to the Boston Landing Station Project. DeNooyer will be presented with the award tonight at the WTS-Boston 2017 Annual Awards and Scholarships Dinner.
