This fall, the MBTA is installing Positive Train Control (PTC) systems on all commuter rail lines. Positive Train Control is a federally-mandated, safety control system that automatically reduces train speeds when needed and helps to avoid collisions.
Find out how your trip may be affected during construction.
Dear Newburyport/Rockport line customers,
We apologize for recent delays taking place at the approach to the Beverly Drawbridge over the last couple of weeks. As anticipated, new bridge adjustments have had to be made and, out of an abundance of caution, some trains may be traveling at slow speeds in this area.
We appreciate your patience as expected adjustments occur and will continue to provide information to you on schedules and on time performance in our communication channels which include train announcements, MBTA alerts and emails.
Thank you for traveling on MBTA commuter rail.
