Deputy Chief Gloria Andrews-Ward
Deputy Chief Gloria Andrews-Ward is currently assigned as the Administrative Services Division Commander. Deputy Chief Andrews-Ward joined the MBTA Transit Police Department in November 1983. She has served in several assignments in the Department, starting as a patrol officer. In 1986, she was assigned as the Department’s Juvenile Officer, assisting with alternatives to arrest solutions and court-approved alternative remedies. During this period, she also served as the Civil Rights Liaison between the Department, Boston Police and The Attorney General’s Office. In October 1996, she was promoted to the rank of Sergeant where she served as a Patrol Supervisor. In 1999, she was assigned to the Professional Standards Unit, investigating allegations of misconduct against members of the department. In September 2004, then Sergeant Andrews-Ward was reassigned to the Court Case Management Unit where she was responsible for overseeing the preparation and application of criminal complaints and other court related activities. In June 2014, she was promoted to Deputy Chief of Police and commander of the Administrative Services Division.
