Fare Evasion
The Transit Police does not condone any type of fare evasion. According to Massachusetts General Law, Chapter 159 Section 101, fare evasion is the action of using public transportation without paying for the service. If you are stopped for attempting to evade paying the required fare, you can expect to provide identification, receive a non-criminal citation, and may be responsible for fines up to two hundred fifty dollars. If the fines have not been paid, the Registry of Motor Vehicles will be notified and the license of said violator will not be renewed, the right to operate a motor vehicle will be suspended and an arrest warrant may be issued for the apprehension of the violator of this law.
