Blue Line AdvisoriesOrient Heights Temporary Station Closure
March 23, 2013 - mid-October, 2013
Blue Line trains will bypass Orient Heights Station.
For Blue Line service to and from Orient Heights Station:
Substitute bus service will operate between Suffolk Downs and Orient Heights Stations. Customers desiring service to Orient Heights should exit the Blue Line at Suffolk Downs Station and board the shuttle bus in the Walley St. busway on the racetrack side of the station. Customers desiring service from Orient Heights should board the shuttle in the Bennington Street busway to connect to Blue Line service at Suffolk Downs.
For Bus Route 712/713 (operated by Paul Revere) service to and from the Blue Line:
Monday-Friday: Route 712/713 buses will travel between Winthrop and Wood Island Station. Exit the Blue Line at Wood Island to transfer to Route 712/713. Use the bus stops at Saratoga St. and St. Edwards Rd. for service to the Orient Heights area.
Saturday-Sunday: Route 712/713 buses will travel between Winthrop and Airport Stations. Exit the Blue Line at Airport to transfer to Route 712/713. Use the bus stops at Saratoga St. and St. Edwards Rd. for service to the Orient Heights area.
Bus Route 120 will continue to use the Bennington St. busway at Orient Heights Station.
Parking:
The parking area at Orient Heights will remain open. Pedestrian access will be via Saratoga Street only. Customers utilizing the Orient Heights Station parking lot will board the shuttle in the Bennington Street busway to connect to Blue Line service at Suffolk Downs. Outbound passengers who need to return to the parking lot at Orient Heights should exit the Blue Line at Suffolk Downs Station and board the shuttle bus in the Walley St. busway on the racetrack side of the station. Alternative parking is available at Beachmont and Wonderland. Ample parking is available at Wonderland Station on a daily basis.
Accessibility: All shuttle bus stops are accessible for persons with disabilities.
Why is this service change in place? This temporary station closure is in place while MBTA crews conduct work on the Orient Heights Station Project, which includes the upgrade and rehabilitation of the station.
