Transit Projects

Assembly Square Station

The Assembly Square redevelopment district in Somerville is site of a proposed large-scale, mixed use redevelopment project of 2,100 residential units, more than 2.75 million square feet of retail & office space and a 200-room hotel. A new Orange Line station at this redevelopment area between Wellington and Sullivan Square is planned to provide regional transit access and an alternative to auto traffic. Design of this project is underway and the MBTA will be seeking FTA funding in addition to funding committed by the Federal Realty Investment developer team to complete design and construct the station.
