Weekend MBTA Commuter Boat Service Returns this Saturday

Posted on May 26, 2016

BOSTON - MassDOT weekend commuter boat service will be provided for the third year between Hingham, Hull, Georges Island, Grape Island, and Boston. The service begins Memorial Day weekend and will continue through the Labor Day weekend.

“Commuter ferry service on the weekends during the two previous summers proved to be a valuable and helpful transit option for visitors and individuals commuting for seasonal work, and we are pleased to offer weekend trips again this year,” said MassDOT Secretary & CEO Stephanie Pollack. “We really try to strive to take steps when possible which will lead to fewer vehicles on our roadways.”

Each Saturday and Sunday, there will be fourteen roundtrips between Hingham and Boston's Long Wharf, with a number of boats making stops at Hull, Georges Island, Grape Island and Logan Airport. The boats depart hourly from Hingham and Boston, beginning at 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., respectively. On Saturdays, there will be two additional round trips at night with the last boat departing Boston at 11:15 p.m., and arriving in Hingham at midnight. A one-way fare between Hingham or Hull and Long Wharf is $8.50. The fare for Logan service is $17, but only $8.50 for those with a valid monthly Commuter Boat pass.
