Changes to Worcester and Fairmount Commuter Rail Schedules

Posted on March 28, 2012

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) and Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad Company (MBCR) today announced schedule adjustments to the Worcester commuter rail line and the Fairmount commuter rail line beginning Monday, April 2nd.

The revised Worcester commuter rail schedule is due to the reconstruction of Yawkey Station as a full-service station as part of the Fenway Center mixed-use redevelopment project, necessitating single track operations between South Station and Allston. When renovations are complete, new Yawkey Station will provide two, full-length, accessible station platforms that provide pedestrian access to and from Beacon Street and Brookline Avenue. Service at Yawkey Station will also have more than double the number of stops each day.

The revised Fairmount commuter rail schedule is due to necessary commuter rail maintenance.
