DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:  The Field Monitor will monitor the performance of all contractual aspects of the Authority’s railroad property agreements.   The Field Monitor will be responsible for: acting as the Real Estate Department liaison for the Railroad Operations Department in all railroad right-of-way matters to maximize earnings from railroad properties and to monitor and prevent unauthorized property use; performing field checks of all authorized railroad right-of-way access to identify encroachments; maintaining a field book identifying such encroachments by measurements and entering all pertinent data; and conveying data periodically to Railroad Operations Department for comments and to the Staff Assistant for Railroad Properties for follow-up remedial action to be taken. Additional duties include:  monitoring the Authority’s outside advertising agreement to ensure compliance with all conditions pertinent to that agreement; coordinating with Property Systems Section in the development of all technical plans needed in connection with due processing of encroachments; identifying by field measurements all residual properties that are owned by the Authority which may not be needed for transportation purposes; and identifying by field observation any deviations to existing license agreements pertinent to use of railroad right-of-way.  Further, the Field Monitor will: provide surveys of probably encroachments; drive a company or personal vehicle to visit work sites and to assist at emergencies and/or events as needed;  work any and all shifts and/or locations as assigned or directed; respond to each inquiry, whether from a customer, vendor or co-worker in a courteous and professional manner consistent with the Authority’s “Driven by Customer Service” quality standard; adhere to the rules, regulations, collective bargaining agreements (if applicable) and policies of the Authority including the EEO, Anti-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment and Anti-Retaliation policies; and perform related duties and projects as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE: a high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) with the ability to comprehend, communicate and respond to instructions, orders, signs, notices, inquiries, etc. in English; three (3) years of experience with real estate principles with emphasis on right-of-way discipline; effective analytical, organizational, confidentiality, multi-tasking, interpersonal and time management skills; working knowledge of Word and Excel applications; and the ability to pass: a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check; background screenings; and the MBTA’s medical requirements, including a physical examination and drug and alcohol screening. Further, the candidate must: effectively communicate with customers, employees and vendors; have excellent customer service skills; have a valid driver’s license; have a satisfactory work record for the two (2) years immediately prior to the closing date of this posting, including overall employment, job performance, discipline and safety records (infractions and/or offenses occurring after the closing of the posting and before the filling of a vacancy may preclude a candidate from consideration for selection); have the ability to work any and all shifts and/or locations as assigned or directed; be available to work twenty-four (24) hours per day, seven (7) days per week; and have the ability to work with a diverse workforce. 

NOTES :   1.) This is a Safety Sensitive Position. Incumbents will be subject to periodic random drug &   alcohol testing.
2.) During declared "states of emergency", this classification is deemed essential, and employees working in this classification are required to report to work for their assigned work hours or as directed by supervisory personnel.
