On Board Fares

  • A $3 surcharge will be added to tickets purchased on-board all trains departing from North Station, South Station and Back Bay Station.
  • Monday-through-Friday customers will be charged $3 surcharge by the conductor when a ticket is purchased on board from a station with an MBTA ticket vending machine or where a Ticket Vendor is open.

  • One-Way Single Rides for Zones 9 and 10 will be charged at the One-Way Fare at all times.

* The Mattapan and Milton facilities currently have a $3.00 parking rate, as they are part of the “Competitive Lots Program,” which investigates lowering the parking rate at underutilized facilities. The existing rates listed in the table are those that were in place before the program. This program is intended to terminate on July 1, 2012, and the rates are programmed to increase to those listed as proposed.
** Park-and-ride daily facility rates are the same for all facilities serving these modes except for the Route 128 facility. The Fore River Shipyard Ferry Terminal in Quincy also has overnight and weekly rates that are currently set at $6.00 and $36.00, respectively. These new rates will increase to $8.00 and $48.00, respectively.
*** The park-and-ride rate at the Route 128 facility is currently set at $5.00 for the first fourteen hours and $12.00 for each day thereafter. The post-fourteen hour rate will increase to $14.00 per day.
