Transit Projects

Wedgemere Station

This project consists of accessibility improvements at the Wedgemere Commuter Rail station in Winchester. The work comprises construction of inbound and outbound mini-high platforms and accessible ramps, including appurtenant canopies, lighting, and signage, as well as the addition of accessible parking spaces and the limited reconstruction of platforms to meet ADA cross slope requirements.  S&R Corporation is performing the construction under MBTA Contract No. D36N01, which was awarded in July 2011. Design and construction phase services are being provided by STV Inc.  The mini-high platforms, accessible ramps, and accessible parking spaces were opened to patrons on February 1, 2013; Wedgemere Station is now fully accessible.  Limited platform reconstruction at the southern end of the station will be completed in phases through early 2013. Landscaping installation, the final component of construction, will be completed in the spring of 2013.
