  • Design contract awarded: 2020
  • Projected completion: TBD
  • Design status: 100% designed

The MBTA is making accessibility improvements at South Attleboro Commuter Rail station. Once complete, the newly modernized station will be fully accessible, providing better bus and pedestrian connections.

In addition to new platforms and elevators, we’re adding three new bus bays to support service between Attleboro, Taunton, and parts of Rhode Island.

Building a Better T

As part of our $9.6 billion, 5-year capital investment plan, we're renovating stations, modernizing fare collection systems, upgrading services for our buses, subways, and ferries, and improving the accessibility of the entire system.

Service Alerts

Commuter Rail service at South Attleboro Station is temporarily suspended. Local GATRA and RIPTA bus service from the station is available. Riders may also consider Attleboro Station as a temporary alternative.

On February 26, 2021, the MBTA announced the temporary suspension of Commuter Rail service to South Attleboro Station because the pedestrian overpass had significantly deteriorated. Inspections indicated that the overpass required full replacement. As a result, we established the South Attleboro Station Accessibility Improvement Project to replace the overpass. Station stops will resume and the pedestrian overpass will reopen when the project is fully completed.
